In 2009, the UK aerospace industry generated revenue in excess of £22 billion.  This amounts to the largest aerospace income in Europe, and is second only to America globally. Around 9000 companies are involved in aerospace work around the UK, but it is the south of England that has become the established home of the UK aerospace industry with companies like Honeywell, BAe Systems, Eaton Aerospace, Lockheed Martin, Meggitt and M.E.L Aviation.

It was when the requirements of such companies for high precision products made from exotic materials was found to be within the manufacturing capabilities of William Hughes that it was deemed time for us to become part of this prestigious and lucrative industry.

In 2006, we acquired AS9100 accreditation, the quality management system standard for aerospace companies.  This was followed by offering customers a completely bespoke service for manufacturing, finishing and packaging, backed up by investment in state-of-the-art measurement equipment.

Within 3 years, all the above companies had become customers of William Hughes, and we are an audited and approved supplier to Honeywell.  In 2011, Nadcap accreditation was achieved for heat treatment and materials testing, perhaps the final step needed to become a renowned aerospace supplier.  We have now achieved Nadcap accreditation for Chemical Processing too.
