From taking wickets to taking orders

The International Masters Over-50’s Cricket World Cup, has now come to an end and despite a sterling effort from the Zimbabwean team featuring our very own Emlyn Kuhn, they did not finish among the top three.

The England team came 3rd and the winners were Pakistan, beating hosts Sri Lanka by six wickets.

Of his time as part of the team, Emlyn said “It was a very tough tournament physically. The biggest challenges were the climate (30 odd degrees Celsius and 89-91% humidity) and the pre-tournament training schedule which saw a number of our squad sustain injuries leaving us unable to perform to our full potential.

The biggest standout for me was the post-match camaraderie shared by the players of each country. After every game, there was always a mixing with the opposition team to discuss the match, share a few drinks and, importantly, have a laugh. These memories and the making of new friends will stick with me for a long time. I am already looking forward to the next tournament which will be in 2027!!

Without the support of Max Hughes and Emma Burgon, I would not have had this incredible opportunity and for this I must pass on my gratitude and thanks.

Emlyn is now back in charge of Wire Sales at Stalbridge, looking forward to an upsurge in orders.
